The AD97401 is a 10-bit resolution, wideband, third generationmember of the TxDAC series of high performance, low powerCMOS digital-to-analog converters (DACs). The TxDACfamily, consisting of pin-compatible 8-, 10-, 12-, and 14-bitDACs, is specifically optimized for the transmit signal pathof communication systems. All of the devices share the sameinterface options, small outline package, and pinout, providingan upward or downward component selection path basedon performance, resolution, and cost. The AD9740 offersexceptional ac and dc performance while supporting updaterates up to 210 MSPS.The AD9740’s low power dissipation makes it well suited forportable and low power applications. Its power dissipationcan be further reduced to 60 mW with a slight degradation inperformance by lowering the full-scale current output. Inaddition, a power-down mode reduces the standby powerdissipation to approximately 15 mW. A segmented currentsource architecture is combined with a proprietary switchingtechnique to reduce spurious components and enhancedynamic performance.Edge-triggered input latches and a 1.2 V temperature-compensatedband gap reference have been integrated to provide a completemonolithic DAC solution. The digital inputs support 3 V CMOSlogic families.
