The package and connector system are designed toallow repeatable coupling into standard 12-fiber ribboncable. In addition, this module has been designed to becompliant with IEC 60825 Class 1M eye safety require-ments.The optical output is controlled by a custom IC, whichprovides proper laser drive parameters and monitorsdrive current to ensure eye safety. An EEPROM and statemachine are programmed to provide both ac and dccurrent drive to the laser to ensure correct modulation,eye diagram over variations of temperature and powersupply voltages.
