The PVG612 Series Photovoltaic Relay is a single-pole, normally open solid-state relay that canreplace electromechanical relays in manyapplications. It utilizes International Rectifier’sproprietary HEXFET power MOSFET as the outputswitch, driven by an integrated circuit photovoltaicgenerator of novel construction. The output switchis controlled by radiation from a GaAlAs lightemitting diode (LED) which is optically isolatedfrom the photovoltaic generator. These units exceed the performance capabilities ofelectromechanical relays in operating life, sensitivity, stability of on-resistance, miniaturization, insensitivityto magnetic fields and ruggedess. The compactPVG612 is particularly suited for isolated switchingof high currents from 12 to 48 Volt AC or DC powersources.Series PVG612 Relays are packaged in a 6-pin,molded DIP package with either thru-hole orsurface mount (gull-wing) terminals. It is availablein standard plastic shipping tubes or on tape-and-reel. Please refer to Part Identification informationopposite.
