The PVR13 Series AC/DC Relay is a dual-pole,normally open, solid-state replacement forelectromechanical relays used for general purposeswitching of analog signals. It utilizes InternationalRectifier’s HEXFET power MOSFETs as the outputswitches, driven by an integrated circuit photovoltaicgenerator of novel construction. The output switch iscontrolled by radiation from a GaAlAs light emittingdiode (LED), which is optically isolated from thephotovoltaic generator. The PVR13 Series overcomes the limitations of bothconventional electromechanical and reed relays byoffering the solid state advantages of long life, fastoperating speed, low pick up power, bounce-freeoperation, low thermal offset voltages and miniaturepackage. These advantages allow productimprovement and design innovations in manyapplications such as process control, multiplexing, automatic test equipment and data acquisition. The PVR13 can switch analog signals fromthermocouple level to 100 Volts peak AC or DCpolarity. Signal frequencies into the RF range areeasily controlled and switching rates up to 450Hzare achievable. The extremely small thermallygenerated offset voltages allowincreasedmeasurement accuracies. These relays are packaged in 16-pin, molded DIPpackages and available with thru-hole leads, inplastic shipping tubes.
